THE TERRITORY

Le Marche

A TERRITORY RICH IN POTENTIAL

The Marche is a region of central Italy that extends over an area of over 9 thousand square kilometers, washed to the east by the Adriatic Sea and protected to the west by the Apennines.

For these reasons the region is characterized by a strong biodiversity of the territory. The long coast, with beaches of pebbles, sand and rocks, gives way first to a hilly landscape up to the mountain, full of meadows, beech woods and cultivated terraces.

The inhabitants of the Marche have developed a particular skill of cultivation and breeding. A type of processing that does not follow the logic of mass production. The Marches develop a multitude of products that differ from village to village and in which great attention is paid to genuineness and wholesomeness.

EAT IN MARCHE REGION

There are many characteristic products of the region: oil, fresh pasta, cheeses and cold cuts. Oil, already in the thirteenth century, was used as a bargaining chip with the passage of the ships along the Po of the Marche. It was then resold at high prices for its well-known aroma and flavor qualities.

Pasta and bread keep intact over time the mixtures of soft wheat semolina and durum wheat of the past which give them high quality organoleptic properties. Cheeses from the Marche have been appreciated since the days of August's Rome. A mix of cow and sheep's milk that gives life to one of the most renowned pecorino, the Casciotta di Urbino.

Not to mention the many cold cuts and salami produced in the Marche region, including one particularly popular in the south of the Marche: the Ciauscolo.

Drink in marche region

In the Region there are more than 17 thousand hectares dedicated to viticulture, which, thanks to the variety of the climatic contexts of the region, produces wines with the most diverse aromas.

This result leads to multiple DOC and DOCG brands obtained from local products.
